Mataram, October 25, 2025 — In celebration of the sacred Hindu day Tumpek Wariga (Tumpek Uduh), which honors plants and the natural world, the academic community of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram held a meaningful environmental initiative entitled “Green Dharma Movement” on Saturday, October 25, 2025. This event carried the theme “A Sacred Moment of Earth Preservation, Love for Nature, Plant Reverence, and the Actualization of Tri Hita Karana Values.”

The activity was part of a nationwide program initiated by the Minister of Religious Affairs through the Directorate General of Hindu Community Guidance, calling on all Hindu State Higher Education Institutions (PTKH) across Indonesia to carry out environmental preservation activities in conjunction with Tumpek Wariga celebrations.

Aligned with the principles of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the spirit of Ecotheology, the event aimed to strengthen ecological awareness as a form of spiritual devotion and moral responsibility toward nature. A total of 25 trees, consisting of both fruit and shade varieties, were planted within the campus environment, symbolizing growth, sustainability, and harmony between humanity and the natural world.

The program began with a joint prayer at Pura Saraswati, seeking divine blessings for the success of the event and the balance of all living beings. This was followed by opening remarks from the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM) and the event coordinator, who highlighted the importance of integrating environmental care into daily spiritual practice. The Rector of IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Wayan Wirata, A.Ma., S.E., M.Si., M.Pd., then delivered a motivational address, emphasizing that nurturing the Earth is a sacred duty rooted in dharma and an expression of the Tri Hita Karana philosophy, i.e., maintaining harmony with God, fellow beings, and nature.

The entire academic community enthusiastically participated in planting the trees, turning the campus green with unity and devotion. The activity not only celebrated the sanctity of Tumpek Wariga but also reflected the institute’s ongoing commitment to cultivating environmental consciousness and spiritual ecology.

As a center of Hindu learning and philosophy, IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram remains firmly committed to advancing the concept of Ecotheology—a synthesis of ecological awareness and spiritual wisdom. Through education, research, and community service, the institution continuously strives to instill a sense of ecological responsibility and reverence for life, encouraging future generations to live in balance with nature and uphold the sacred relationship between humans and the environment.
Through the “Green Dharma Movement,” IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram continues to embody Ecotheology in action, translating Hindu values into tangible efforts to protect and sustain the Earth—our shared sacred home.
